as a person

Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision. It involves more than being satisfied with their approaches and qualifications, it also means feeling comfortable with them as a person.

It's why I offer a free, no-obligation initial telephone consultation. It's also why I share a little about who I am with you here.

Many of my clients come to me because they feel they are stuck in some way, not sure of what direction to take or what steps they need take to even begin moving at all.

It's a situation I faced myself in the mid-80s. I was in a business career that was proving less and less fulfilling, and I didn't feel I had goals that excited or inspired me. I decided to take action through a personal development programme based on NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). The self-examination I did through that programme changed my view of myself, my surroundings, my family and my whole life path.

I have always been someone people confided in, and always seemed to have a knack for listening and making helpful suggestions. I decided to make this my life's work. I returned to college to study Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy. Two years later, my first step was complete, and I was ready to take the next steps. I have now been working in the field of personal change for almost two decades.

In my personal life, I face the same challenges everyone else does. I juggle my consulting practice with a husband, four children, three dogs, seven ducks and three sheep! I have a diverse range of interests, and a strong community involvement. My own personal development continues: there is always a next step!
